ROOF 12x12x6m ARC

Tunnel roof system made of five aluminum truss arches. The tunnel design of temporary roofs introduces great versatility for event management and show planning as the arches bring in the feature of great clearance and, at the same time, very large loading capacity. The truss arches are anchored to steel base plates that are connected to each other not only by ladder trusses but also by steel ropes stiffening the structure as a solid unit. The covering of the tunnel roof is carried out through optional keder profiles welded to individual arch segments in order to make the PVC top cover stripes slide in easily and protect the stage area from sun, rain and wind.

The outter dimensions of the structure are 12 x 12 x 6 m (39 x 39 x 20 ft) with the maximum stage size under the roof 11 x 11 m (36 x 36 ft). The main arches are made of HT44 truss circle segments. The individual arches are interconnected by HT42 ladder trusses and the complete structure is also stiffened by many steel ropes guy wires.

Maximum loading capacity of the roof is 10 000 kg (22,046 lbs). The operational wind limit for using the roof system with the side canopies on all three sides is 20 m/s (45 mph).

Used Truss

Main Grid

HT44 truss - box truss with 400 x 400 mm (16 x 16 in) outside dimensions, main pipe Ø 50 x 3 mm (2 x 0.12 in), braces 25 x 3 mm (1 x 0.12 in). The alloy used as material for the pipes is EN AW-6082 T6.

HT42 truss - ladder truss with 400 mm (16 in) outside dimensions, main pipe Ø 50 x 3 mm (2 x 0.12 in), braces 25 x 3 mm (1 x 0.12 in). The alloy used as material for the pipes is EN AW-6082 T6.

Wind Management

Wind resistence is calculated with 5 PVC canopy stripes applied to the structure creating a fully covered structure from the top side (front and rear walls of the tunnel are open). The last arched section of roof must be secured by guy wire cross bracing at all times as well as the bottom steel base plates connected to each other by steel rope bowstrings.

Bottom base-to-base steel rope bowstring min. loading capacity - 1250 kg ( 2,756 lbs)

Last arched section guy wires min. loading capacity - 1800 kg (3,968 lbs)

Please note that tension capacity of guy wires needs to be higher than required min. loading capacity.

In service max. allowed windspeed - 20 m/s - 72 km/h - 45 mph

Ballast

All base plates must be lain on the ground at all time.

The surface min. bearing capacity under each base plate - 3200 kg (7,055 lbs)

Each base plate min. ballast for coping with vertical tensile forces - 2600 kg (5,732 lbs) = total of 26 000 kg / 57,320 lbs

Each base plate min. ballast for coping with horizontal forces - 1350 kg (2,976 lbs) = total of 13 500 kg / 29,760 lbs

Canopy and Side Walls

Top canopy is available standardly in silver grey and black color. The material used is SIO-LINE B 8000 with weight of 630 g/m².
